Can you pause for a moment and imagine how the Nigerian music industry would have been without Olamide also known as Baddo. Well, I guess you can’t even begin to fathom what it would be like without the YBNL boss.
For roughly 10 years now Olamide has been an integral part of the Nigerian music industry. In fact, he has been a major influence on the overall outlook of the industry as it is today. Baddo na Baba, a legend if you ask me.
One of the talking points about his career would be his very long discography and the monstrous hit tunes he has served the public over the years. The man is the biggest hitmaker among his peers and very versatile with his craft.
We have seen Olamide as a rap maniac, with some flawless rap hits under his belt. We also have witnessed him as a sensational pop singer and overall a legendary indigenous musician.
While the aforementioned attributes remain valid, there is another side of Baddo that has further bolstered the industry. Olamide has a knack for pushing and lifting up-and-coming music stars. He is very keen at identifying talents and giving such talents the spotlight to shine.
There are several music stars who are where they are today because Olamide took a chance on them. They owe their various levels of successes to the YBNL boss.
Keshinro Ololade popularly known as Lil Kesh was one of the first people taken under the wing of Olamide. As a ferocious upcomer, Lil Kesh caught the attention of Olamide with his debut single ‘Lyrically’ and got signed. His 2 years stay under YBNL was super amazing as Lil Kesh like his mentor became a serial hitmaker. He had hits like ‘Shoki‘, ‘Efejoku‘, ‘Gbese‘, etc., and a debut album while under YBNL. He was a nominee for the controversial 2016 Headies ‘Next Rated’ award.
Now Kesh has his record label YAGI and most recently released his second body of work ‘Ecstasy‘ EP. We’re pretty certain Kesh would be forever grateful to Olamide for his contribution towards his growth as a musician.
