Former NFL player Kevin Ware is reportedly suspected of murdering his girlfriend, who vanished from a house party in Texas on April 25 and has not been seen since.

Ware has not been arrested or charged, but a Texas prosecutor did say at a recent bond hearing on unrelated charges that he is ‘suspected of murdering’ 29-year-old Taylor Pomaski, according to Houston station KHOU. He had not previously been identified as a suspect in the case.

The 40-year-old Ware is believed to be one of the last people to interact with Pomaski before she vanished from a party at a home she shared with the former Washington Redskins tight end. Police have not said if any remains have been found, but they previously hinted at foul play.

Taylor Pomaski (pictured), 29, has not been seen since a house party on April 25 in Texas

Tim Miller, the founder of Texas EquuSearch, a missing-person search group, told ABC13 that he was informed that Ware and Pomaski had a ‘violent’ confrontation at their house party on April 25 — less than a week after he was arrested on gun and drug charges.

‘A couple of days later, there is a big party at his house and then a fight broke out with him and Taylor, and, from what we understand, the fight got fairly violent,’ Miller told ABC13.

Texas EquuSearch has been working with investigators on this case.

‘This certainly is in no way going to have a happy ending,’ Miller said.

Ware was arrested earlier this month by US Marshals after he failed to report for supervision on those aforementioned drug possession and firearm charges from April, when he was allegedly caught with cocaine, methamphetamine, and a loaded AK-47.

His lawyer told KPRC that they were unaware of Wednesday’s hearing, and had no prior knowledge of him being considered a suspect in Pomaski’s disappearance.

‘That’s the first time we’ve seen that,’ attorney Coby DuBose told KPRC. ‘That filing is the first time that it’s been suggested that he is a suspect.

‘He’s told the police everything that he knows and he’s led them through his house,’ DuBose continued. ‘He’s let them in his home, and that’s really all we’re going to say about that.’

Ware does have a criminal record dating back to 2007.

A former boyfriend described Taylor Pomaski’s relationship with Kevin Ware as being volatile

Eric Zulegar, a former boyfriend of Pomaski, told KPRC that he has been in touch with her mother, who believes that Ware must know what happened to her daughter.

‘There could be others that were around the house that night. I’m not for certain, but Kevin knows exactly what happened.’

Zuelgar also described Pomaski’s relationship with Ware as being quite volatile.

‘Taylor reached out to me many times throughout the month of April,’ Zuleger said. ‘We were talking about her getting out of there, getting back on her feet, getting herself set and stabilized.’

Anyone with information in the matter can call the HCSO Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS. Crime Stoppers may offer up to a $5,000 reward for information int the case.

A San Diego native, Ware had a productive senior season at the University of Washington in 2002 before going unpicked in the 2003 NFL Draft. He did manage to sign a free agent deal with Washington in 2003 and caught three passes over 11 games. He signed briefly with the San Francisco 49ers the following season, but caught only a single pass in five games.
