Nigerian superstar singer, Burna Boy, has made yet another giant stride as his single, “Destiny” makes U.S. President-elect, Joe Biden’s playlist.
The track is off his internationally acclaimed fifth studio album “Twice As Tall” which had P.Diddy as the Executive Producer.
The 13-track Grammy nominated album is the only song by a Nigerian on the playlist.
Inauguration Committee CEO, Tony Allen, explained the criteria for selecting the songs on the playlist.
According to him, the fusion of different genres of music is a reflection of America’s diversity.
“During a tumultuous year that has kept so many loved ones apart, music has been a consistent vehicle that has kept us connected,” Mr. Allen said .
“These songs and artists reflect the relentless spirit and rich diversity of America. They are the score to a new chapter and will help bring people together as the Biden-Harris administration begins its important work to unite our country,” he added.
DJ D-Nice and Issa Rae, in collaboration with the presidential Inauguration Company, were responsible for compiling the playlist.
“Are you planning your #Inauguration2021 at-home watch party? Well let us take one thing off your plate — @DJDNice and @TheRaedio came up with the perfect playlist for you to dance the night away as we ring in our new leaders,” the Biden Inaugural Committee tweeted.
Other artists on the playlist include, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, among others.
Biden defeated incumbent president Donald Trump in the fiercely contested November 3 2020 presidential election.
