BREAKING: Emergency services perform CPR on numerous children after a car ran off the road, flipped and crashed into a dam in Queensland

An emergency operation is underway after a car carrying six people crashed into a Queensland dam.

At least two children are in a critical condition following the Beaudesert Boonah Rouad crash in Wyaralong, southeast Queensland, at about 2pm.

First responders pulled the carload full of people from the dam on Sunday afternoon after it went careening off the road.

Divers are on the way to the scene.

Three rescue helicopters have also been deployed, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed.

A police car which was on the way to the scene crashed and rolled shortly afterwards.

The officers involved sustained minor injuries.

Motorists have been warned to find a different route with the road closed in both directions at Wyaralong.

More to come.
