Haiti must analyze virus at home before acquiring vaccine, expert says – The Haitian Times

Dr. Jacques Boncy, director of Haiti’s national public health laboratory, welcomed news that a vaccine to prevent the novel coronavirus may be available soon. However, Dr. Boncy said on Monday, Haiti must confirm which strain of the widespread virus is responsible for most cases in Haiti before acquiring the potential vaccine. 

“One treatment may be effective against one strain of virus and may not be as effective against another,” Dr. Boncy said.

COVID-19 has not ravaged Haiti as it has done in other countries. A reported 232 people have died and 9,079 cases confirmed. Source
