BREAKING NEWS: Second man is charged with the murder of Gold Coast mother who was allegedly ‘burned to death’ – accused of helping her U.S. Marine ex-husband
A second man has been charged with the murder of Gold Coast mother Kelly Wilkinson.
Queensland Police will allege Bradley Bell, 25, from Pimpama, drove Ms Wilkinson’s ex-husband, former U.S. Marine Brian Earle Johnston, to her home in Arundel in April.
Prosecutors will also claim Bell and Johnston stopped at a fuel station on the way to fill up a jerry can with petrol.
Bell was arrested at a business in Coomera on Tuesday morning and was later charged with murder.
Detective Inspector Chris Ahern said police will allege Bell was an association of Johnston’s and knew he was allegedly planning to murder his former wife.
‘He was involved in transporting Kelly’s estranged husband to her house on the morning of the murder,’ Mr Ahern claimed.
‘And (he) had some involvement in procuring items like fuel that were used to perpetrate her murder’.
Detectives don’t believe Bell knew Ms Wilkinson or the family.
Johnston was charged with her murder earlier this year. His case is before the courts and he is bail refused.
Bell was refused bail to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
