Supermarkets issue urgent recall for Aptamil multigrain banana and berry baby cereal because it may contain pieces of plastic
Supermarkets have issued an urgent recall for a popular baby cereal that might contain pieces of plastic.
Aptamil Multigrain Banana and Berry Cereal 7+ months has been found to have bits of packaging mixed in with the cereal.
The baby product is sold at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Waitrose, as well as Boots.
The Nutricia cereal products are 200g in size and have a sell by date of July 7, 2021.
Nutricia, the company who make the product, said: ‘If you have fed your baby from one of the packs without noticing any pieces, it is very likely that your pack was not affected.
‘No other batches of this product or any other Aptamil products have been affected.’
Concerned customers should check if their product has the sell by date.
If it does, they should not feed it to their baby and return to the store, with or without a receipt to get a full refund.
A Waitrose statement said: ‘As a precautionary measure, Nutricia is recalling the above product as some packs have been found to contain small pieces of the blue plastic material used to make the packaging.
‘Customers should not consume this product, and contact Waitrose Customer Care to arrange your refund. If you are making a trip to your local Waitrose & Partners branch you can return the product in store for a refund.
‘We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused. If you have any questions regarding this recall please contact Aptamil Customer Care on 0800 996 1000 or click here for more contact information.’
