Australia Post has issued a handy trick to ensure customers get their packages easily ahead of Christmas.

Click Frenzy’s ‘Main Event’ will kick off from 7pm (AEDT) Wednesday with exclusive offers and thousands of deals from over 500 Australian retailers. 

The 53-hour online mega sale is Click Frenzy’s highly anticipated final sales event for the year and is expected to be a huge parcel week for Australia Post. 

Australia Post has given online shoppers handy tips ahead of Click Frenzy’s ‘Main Event’ sale which will kick off from 7pm (AEDT) Wednesday

Australia Post Executive General Manager Business, Gary Starr, said he expected the online event to be popular this year as shoppers buy ahead of the Christmas rush.  

‘Click Frenzy is the start of the pre-Christmas sale period and we’ve been working hard to ready our network,’ Mr Starr said. 

‘We’ve got over 45 new and repurposed operational and retail sites up and running, additional planes in the air, over 4000 new team members coming on board, and we’re delivering on weekends when and where we need to – all to ensure we can get parcels to our customers as quickly as possible,’ Mr Starr concluded.  

For Australia Post the Click Frenzy event will be the biggest surge in demand for online deliveries in the lead up to Christmas. 

He said it’s expected two-in-five shoppers will buy their presents online in November as customers heed advice to get their Christmas shopping done early.

In the past year 9.2 million Aussies have shopped online – a 3.5 per cent increase compared to last year. 

Online shopping in NSW and the ACT has increased the fastest with purchases up 42.4 per cent and 68.4 per cent respectively.  

Mr Starr advised customers to take advantage of Australia Post’s 24/7 Parcel Lockers to ensure shoppers avoid any hassles with their deliveries.

Free parcel lockers will be available to customers during the Christmas period so people can pick up their packages at any time. 

More than 1,000 lockers will be available across the country where packages can be stored for up to 48 hours before being moved to a post office.   

Customers collecting parcels will be prompted to enter a one time code to access the lockers.  

This comes as Australia Post faces widespread backlash for delivery delays and reports of attempted delivery cards being left despite residents being at home.  

Changes to its delivery policy means posties no longer require a signature to avoid ‘unnecessary contact’, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. 

Australia Post told Daily Mail Australia its staff were working harder than ever to ensure packages were delivered to homes.

‘Our posties and drivers are instructed to knock at the door three times and call out before leaving a card or safe-dropping a parcel,’ it said.

‘We regularly remind our people of our policies, and what we expect of them to ensure our customers receive a great service.

‘Sometimes however, our people will leave a card without knocking because of access or safety issues – such as an off-leash dog – and this could happen even when a customer is home.’
