Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama have joined forces to ask Americans to support building a museum to recognize Medal of Honor recipients.

The former presidents took part in a new public service announcement to push for a national museum in Arlington, Texas, to honor recipients of the nation’s highest military honor.

‘We salute these extraordinary Americans. We will never forget their sacrifices. We will always be inspired by their heroism,’ Clinton said.

‘Let’s all come together to build a museum in their honor,’ Obama urged.

Presented to roughly 3,500 recipients since its founding during the Civil War, the medal of honor symbolizes the timeless American ideals of courage, sacrifice, patriotism, citizenship, integrity, and commitment, according to the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation.

The former presidents have all presented a medal of honor at one point in their presidency.

‘The President of the United States meets with so many extraordinary individuals,’ Bush noted in the PSA.

The museum will highlight the stories of Americans awarded the Medal of Honor. It will also include an education center, a leadership institute and a theater for events.

All three former presidents are Honorary Directors on the museum’s board of directors. All former living commander-in-chiefs are listed on the website as honor directors except for Donald Trump.

It is unclear why the 45th president is not included. The foundation did not immediately repond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

Other members of the board of directors include author Brad Meltzer, former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and retired General David Petraeus. Documentary maker Ken Burns is listed as an adviser.

To date, the foundation has raised $100 million for the two-track project – which includes the museum in Texas and a monument to medal winners in Washington D.C., according to the foundation.

The PSA first aired during the NFL’s Sunday game between the Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, which is close to the proposed site for the museum.

The National Medal of Honor Museum is set to break ground early in 2022 and hopes to finish its work by 2024.
