A Connecticut high school hockey player has died after collapsing on the rink during a game on Thursday night.
The teenager has not been named but he was a student at St Luke’s, a private school in New Canaan, Connecticut.
He was playing against Brunswick School, an all boys prep school, at Brunswick’s Hartong Rink on Thursday night when he fell to the ground.
Another player then skated into him accidentally.
The injured teenager was rushed to the hospital but he died on Thursday night. The nature of his injuries remains unknown.

St. Luke’s has not commented on the accident yet but the school – which was due to operate remote classes only on Friday because of heavy snow – is now closed.
‘A player from the other team fell to the ice.
‘Another player who was near the downed player was unable to stop, and collided with the player who fell,’ Greenwich Police Captain Mark Zuccarello told The Greenwich Times.
In a brief statement on Thursday night, St. Luke’s said: ‘St. Luke’s will be closed on Friday, January 7.
‘Please look for an email message from Head of School Mark Davis. There will be no classes or after-school activities.’
St. Luke’s is a co-ed private school in New Canaan, a wealthy suburb in Connecticut. Tuition for the school year of 2021-2022 runs as high as $47,000.
